ABB: Digitization brings leaping development for GD in new industrial revolution

Governor Ma Xingrui met Dr. Chunyuan Gu(L), member of the group executive commitee and president of region Asia, Middle East and Africa of ABB Group.
"The fourth industrial revolution provides a good chance for Guangdong to make use of the Greater Bay Area's different advantages in industries, capitals, talents by digitization, intelligence," said Dr. Chunyuan Gu, member of the group executive committee and president of region Asia, Middle East and Africa of ABB Group in his report for ICCFED 2017.
Dr. Gu praised that Guangdong is a strong manufacturing province with a number of preeminent entrepreneurs. "Traditional manufacturing industry has to face the challenge brought by increasing labor cost, over capacity of production and so on. Hence, the digitization solutions can help those manufacturers to realize intelligent manufacturing with lower cost and energy."
Gu believed that ABB Ability, an innovative cloud-computing platform designed to monitor, optimize and control the electrical system, can support Guangdong's current industrial upgrade.
Dr. Gu also stressed Guangdong should focus more on talents, which are crucial for innovation and advanced manufacturing.
In order to attract more top talents to establish world-class enterprises, the province should improve the high-end services including education and medical treatment. Besides, policy should be made to encourage workers to have vocational education related to industrial upgrading.
ABB sees a lot of market demands such as electricity and new energy in Guangdong. In addition, the province has an ideal business environment. In future, ABB plans to increase the spending on research and development to bring automation for production lines, plants and companies, said Dr. Gu.
