Guangzhou Profile
Situated at the core hub of Guangdong-HongKong-Macau Greater Bay Area with an economic volume of nearly 10 trillion Yuan, Guangzhou (also known as "City of Goats" and "Flower City")has a permanent population of over 14 million itself and a total radiation population of more than 60 million in the Greater Bay and covers an area of7434 km. At present, Guangzhou is carrying out in depth the goal of "Being Four Front-runners in the National Development", deeply participating in the construction of “Belt and Road" and "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area", developing an open economy at a higher level, and building an international comprehensive transportation hub, a trade center, an exchange Centre and a technological innovation center. II. Conference and Exhibition Industry Overview
Guangzhou has been showing the world its vigorous and thriving image as a central conference and exhibition city of China and was acclaimed as one of the most competitive conference and exhibition cities in China. In recent years, Guangzhou has performed well in attracting the world’s first-class conference and exhibition enterprises, international high-end conferences and important competitions --- one of the world’s largest expo enterprises French GL events, Fortune Global Forum 2017, the selection match of Bocused’Or (the culinary art’s Olympics) Asia Pacific, landed in Guangzhou for the first time.
In the whole year of 2017, the number of exhibitors, visitors and participants reached 15.703 million person-time, up5.4% over the same period, including 14.196 person-time from domestic exhibitors, visitors and participants, up 4% and 1.507 million from overseas, up 20.3% over the same period respectively. The increased numbers brought along the booming of Guangzhou’s tourism and the upstream and downstream industry chain, in which, the exhibitions and conferences pulled up the tourist consumption by 20.504 billion yuan and 2.48 billion yuan, up 6.5% and 20.5%respectively, and pulled up the foreign exchange receipt in tourism by 910million US dollars, up 20.6%.
Conference Sector: The year 2017 witnessed 7768 large-sized conferences, up 9.2% over the same period. The high-end international conferences e.g. Fortune Global Forum2017, Guangzhou International Investment Annual Session and the upcoming World Route Development Conference 2018, International Port Conference 2019 are continuously exhibiting the world Guanzhou’s opening and innovative image and enabling Guangzhou to leave its great impression in the creation of the new pattern of global economy.
Exhibition Sector: In 2017, Guangzhou’s key venues witnessed678 exhibitions, up 26% over the same period, occupying a total exhibition area of 9.896 million square meters, up 10.4% over the same period. Moreover, 15exhibitions are super large ones for they occupy area of more than 100,000square meters each, especially the exhibition area of a single Canton Fair reaches as large as 1.18 million square meters. The professional exhibitions like Lighting Show, Furniture Expo, Building Materials Expo, Beauty Fair, Lamp and Audio Show, etc. rank the first in the world or Asia in the exhibition scale. Furthermore, large-sized exhibitions like the Hotel Consumables Expo,International Automobile Show, Tourist Fair are becoming bigger and stronger and breaking records.

In 2017, the gross domestic product of Guangzhou was 2.15 trillion yuan. Of the 41 major industrial sectors nationwide, Guangzhou has 35 ones, making it the most complete in South China’s sectors. In 2017, the retail sales of consumer goods in Guangzhou totaled 940.259 billion yuan, an increase of 8.0 percent, ranking third in the country’s major cities for consecutive 30 years. ——Advantageous Rail Transit
Guangzhou hub is a core node of the country’s railway network, one of the three biggest international integrated transportation hub of the country and the main center of Pearl River Delta Integrated Transportation Network. The ten railway stations e.g. Guangzhou Station, Guangzhou East Station, Guangzhou South Station, Baiyun (Tangxi) Station, Guangzhou North Station, Baiyun Airport Station, Xintang Station, Zengchen Station, Qingsheng Station and Nansha (Wanqingsha) Station will open to traffic in succession, of which, Guangzhou South Station will realize 1-hour access to10 cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, with 20-minutearrival at the soonest. Once the Trans-Asian Railway opened to traffic, Guangzhou can have a close contact with the Southeast Asia, through Yunnan’s Kunming City. Currently, Guangzhou’s metro mileage has reached 390.6 km and will ascend to 500 km, realizing the new pattern of “Metro Access to All Districts”. Guangzhou’s rail transit has achieved convenient access to its urban area, suburb and the Pearl River Delta.

Located at the core function area of Pazhou International Conference and Exhibition Complex, the Top 1 Chinese Exhibition – Chinese Import and Export Commodities Fair (Canton Fair) is held in this venue every spring and autumn. Customs to Create New Expo Services
As a professional institution dealing with exhibition affairs, the Guangzhou Customs Office in the Conference and Exhibition Complex actively promotes the construction of supportive facilities such as Pazhou Passenger Port, logistics waiting area, etc., initiates the “Internet + Expo E-link" system which allows on-line archive filing, customs declaration, inspection reporting and implementing, retention purchase and verification and cancellation during the whole process of customs clearance, and truly realizes "one-time declaration, one-time filing, one time inspection and one-time release" to attract more overseas exhibitors and visitors. Meanwhile, the Customs Office encourages the Nansha Bonded Port Area, the Baiyun Airport Comprehensive Free Trade Zone and the Bonded Logistics Center to utilize mutual preferential policies and trade facilitation like "tax exemption, in bond and license free" in order to support the bonded imports’ participation in domestic exhibitions and to create new exhibition modes to promote the completion of bonded exhibiting projects as soon as possible.

For the purpose of promoting the development of exhibition economy and creating a fine business environment, Guangzhou Pazhou Protection Center for Exhibition Intellectual Property aims at guiding exhibition organizers and exhibitors to reinforce their awareness of protecting intellectual property rights consciously and to play a leading and radiative role in the rights’ protection. 1) Project Reference: This project is launched by the three parties – Guangzhou Chamber of Conference and Exhibition Industry, the People’s Insurance Company of China Limited (PICC) and Bank according to Guangzhou Measures for the Pilot Implementation of Policy Microloan Guarantee Insurance (GZ Finance [2015] 63 ).
